    2010 Que Syrah Vineyard

    In 2010, moderate to slightly cool weather at the ridge-top site offered one of the smallest yields ever for the Que Syrah Vineyard, at around one half-ton per acre. Cool, foggy mornings at this estate vineyard yielded to warm sunny afternoons ripening the grapes to 22.7{degrees} Brix. The resulting wine is expectedly elegant and focused in classic Que Syrah form.

    2010 Que Syrah : Deep red to scarlet purple hue. The nose is complex and long with docile aromas of coffee bean, raspberry, anise and earthy mushroom. An initial light grip on the palate is lean with a bright acid backbone. White pepper, leather, fine tannin and minerality give way to a full and long lavender finish. Alcohol 13.2%


  • 2010 Thierot Syrah

    2010 Thieriot Vineyard
    Sonoma Coast AVA

    The Thieriot Vineyard rests in the heart of the Petaluma Gap area of the Sonoma Coast AVA. Coastal influences affect the terroir of the site through both cool maritime air and littoral soils. During the growing season light winds and sun are interrupted only by morning fog. These conditions ensure slow ripening and the resulting flavors that only the Thieriot Vineyard can provide. The first fall storms determine the harvest date and ultimate ripeness between 22.5{degrees} and 24{degrees} Brix.

    2010 Thieriot Syrah : Aromas of damp earth, cured meat and menthol. Vibrant and lively on the palate with flavors of Bing cherry, bittersweet chocolate, and cinnamon. Shining acidity and fine tannin linger with minerality to the finish: classic expressions of this small and unique vineyard. Alcohol 13.3%


  • 2010 Vivio Syrah

    2010 Vivio Vineyard
    Bennett Valley AVA

    In neighboring Bennett Valley a cool coastal fog flows between Mt. Taylor and Sonoma Mountain buffering the climate from warmer surrounding areas. Vivio Vineyard, on the Taylor Mountain side, was planted in 2003 to a selection of clones from the Rhone Valley and Australia. This clonal variation combined with the diversity of well-drained rocky soils of the site helps us produce a Syrah with character and depth. The Vivio Vineyard is undoubtedly one of the premier Syrah sources in the appellation.

    2010 Vivio Syrah : Dark crimson in color with aromas of cigar tobacco, bacon fat, clove and modest oak vanillin. Temperate fruit character gives way to fine ripe tannin and balanced but firm acid. As with previous vintages of Vivio Syrah, we fermented this wine on 10% whole clusters and 5% Roussanne. Alchohol 13.8%

    Santa Lucia Highlands AVA

    When we first set out to produce a Viognier for the Bodega Rancho lineup in 2010, we looked excitedly to the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA of Monterey County as a source for fruit. The area is long known for the warm yet temperate coastal climate that produces wines with nuance and complex fruit character. Since then our SLH Viognier has become one our most beloved wines.

    2012 Viognier : This wine was fermented in cement tanks and stainless steel to preserve its clean fresh character and exotic aromas of lily, citrus and ripe pear. The crisp acidity and bright finish lend well to pairing with a diversity of foods, from light pastas and seafood to spicy cuisine. Drink this dry white wine young and well chilled. Alcohol 13.6%
